Wall and floor tiling done properly — substrate prepared, waterproofing applied, clean grout lines, silicone finished.
A tiled bathroom is only as good as the preparation behind the tiles. Most bathroom tiling failures — cracked grout, loose tiles, damp behind the walls — come from inadequate substrate preparation or skipped waterproofing, not the tiles themselves.
We have been tiling bathrooms across Cardiff and South Wales since 2016, including under the previous A Plus Tiling business. We know what goes wrong, where it goes wrong, and how to prevent it. Every bathroom tiling job starts with the substrate, not the tile.
Large format tiles (600mm and above) require a flatter substrate, heavier adhesive, and more time to install correctly. We assess suitability before quoting — not all walls are suitable for large format without preparation work first.
The tiles are the last thing we think about. The substrate, waterproofing, and adhesive choice determine whether the job is still perfect in ten years or starting to fail in two.
We check walls and floors for movement, moisture, flatness, and suitability before anything is ordered or started. Old plaster, painted surfaces, and damp walls all require different approaches.
Shower areas, bath surrounds, and wet room floors should be properly waterproofed or tanked before tiling. Water finding its way behind tiles is the most common cause of long-term bathroom failure — we advise on the right approach for each job at quote stage.
Porcelain, large format, and natural stone all require different adhesives. Using the wrong one leads to failure — often long after the tiler has left. We specify the right product for every combination.
We plan the tile layout to avoid awkward slivers at eye level, ensure symmetry around focal points like windows and niches, and minimise waste. This takes time — but it's what makes the difference visually.
Grout joints are consistent, clean, and colour-matched to the tile. Movement joints at internal corners and floor-wall junctions are siliconed — not grouted — to allow for natural movement without cracking.
Every bathroom is different. These are guide figures only — the final price depends on tile size, substrate condition, room complexity, and whether waterproofing or boarding is required. We quote the full scope before starting.

How much does bathroom tiling cost in Cardiff?
Wall tiling starts from around £25–£35 per m² for labour only on standard sizes. Large format tiles cost more due to the additional adhesive, handling time, and precision required. A full bathroom — walls and floor — typically falls between £800 and £2,500 depending on size, tile choice, and how much substrate preparation is needed. We always quote the full scope including any prep work before starting.
Do you waterproof before tiling?
In most wet zones — shower enclosures, bath surrounds, and wet room floors — we recommend proper waterproofing or tanking before tiles go on. Skipping this is the most common reason tiles fail. We assess what is needed and advise at quote stage.
Can you tile over existing bathroom tiles?
Sometimes — but only if the existing tiles are fully bonded with no movement, the surface is flat enough, and the additional weight and depth are acceptable. We check before quoting. In most cases we recommend removing old tiles to get back to a clean substrate, particularly in wet zones where the existing waterproofing may be compromised.
What size tiles work best in a small bathroom?
Larger tiles can actually work well in smaller bathrooms — fewer grout lines create a cleaner, more open look. However, large format tiles require a very flat substrate, which sometimes means boarding or levelling first. We advise on what works for your specific space and budget at quote stage, rather than giving a generic answer.
How long does bathroom tiling take?
A typical bathroom takes two to four days from start to finish, depending on size, tile format, and whether waterproofing or boarding is required. Adhesive needs time to cure before grouting, and grout needs time to cure before the room is used. We give a realistic timeline at quote stage — not an optimistic one designed to win the job.
Can you supply the tiles as well as fit them?
Yes. We can source tiles at trade cost — including porcelain, ceramic, and large format options — and handle the full job from tile selection to final silicone. We can also work with tiles you have already purchased, but we check suitability for the substrate and conditions before starting.
Do you cover the whole of Cardiff?
Yes. We work across Cardiff and the wider South Wales area including the Vale of Glamorgan, Newport, Caerphilly, and Bridgend.
House2Home Renovation Projects is a Cardiff-based tiling and renovation company with extensive experience in bathroom wall and floor tiling across South Wales. Our tiling background includes work under A Plus Tiling, with hundreds of completed bathroom, kitchen, and floor tiling projects since 2016.
Bathroom tiling is one of the most searched renovation services in Cardiff — and one of the most variable in quality. The gap between a bathroom tiled by someone who understands substrate preparation and waterproofing, and one done by someone who does not, is not always visible on day one. It becomes very visible over the following two to three years.
We work with all tile types and formats, from standard ceramic wall tiles through to large format porcelain slabs, feature walls, and wet room installations. Every job is assessed individually — because not every wall is suitable for large format tiles, not every substrate is suitable for direct tiling, and not every customer's budget requires the most expensive approach.
If you are looking for bathroom tiling in Cardiff, we will visit, assess the substrate, advise honestly on what preparation is required, and give you a clear price before anything starts. No surprises mid-job.
